The BC Farmers Market Trail is a project we were involved with from the jump. The BCFMT is a digital guide to over 145 farmers’ markets that take place across the province. Produced by the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets, the Trail aims to attract visitors and acts as an educational resource on BC agriculture and the environmental impact of eating locally.

Our creative team established a warm and informative visual identity for the BC Farmers’ Market Trail, inspired by the bounty of ingredients available to us in the region. With a portfolio of logos, wordmarks and illustrations, as well as photography and videography, we brought the brand to life.

Through the BCFMT we have built a trusted resource for all things farmers’ markets in the province, and it quickly began attracting new visitors and new destinations to join the BC Association of Farmers Markets. Through the social media accounts, blog, and ongoing projects we do for the BCFMT, we aim to connect even more visitors to BC farmers’ markets.

Our photographers captured thousands of beautiful images from over 100 farmers' markets across the province.

Strategy

With a multi-stakeholder model, this project depends on the constant cooperation of many moving parts. Our team worked closely with the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets to ensure their goals for the Trail were met.

Implementation

With an experienced creative team and the goals of the BC Association of Farmers' Markets in mind, we got to work on conceptualizing and designing their brand identity and website.

Support

We provide the BC Farmers Market Trail with ongoing marketing coordination, and web support, and by providing visual assets for blog, web and social media.

Strategy

The BC Farmers Market Trail aims to connect marketgoers with local farmers’ markets and promote Destination Marketing Organizations across the province. They needed a map system to bring visitors to these markets with ample information on each destination. Visually, the brand also needed an identity that would attract marketgoers, and that spoke to the goals of the brand; promoting and educating on BC agriculture. Our creative team collaborated closely with the BCAFM and other stakeholders to establish a brand identity and web design that reflected the intention of the Trail project.

Implementation

Building this project from the ground up was no easy task for our creative team. We designed logos, wordmarks, and illustrations to be used across web, socials and collateral marketing materials. We created an organic and non-pretentious brand identity, with an earthy palette taking much inspiration from produce found across BC. We included playful elements like colourful illustrations and graphics to keep the look fresh. In addition, we captured thousands of images at over 100 markets and produced 12 video projects interviewing farmers across the province.

With the brand identity formed, we worked hard to create an informative website that contains all you could ever need to know about any BC farmers’ market. To provide as much information as possible we collaborated with writers who visited markets along the Trail and wrote blog content about each destination. The Find A BC Farmers’ Market form helps visitors easily find a market in their region, with all the relevant information that otherwise would have been difficult to find. To get the word out about the BC Farmers’ Market Trail, we printed 50,000+ promotional brochures and rack cards and collaborated with other sectors such as Go RVing and Wine Growers of British Columbia for cross-promotion.
